About this Course Module
This presentation provides an overview of how families can be
impacted by the PTSD of a family member and the challenges families
might face in reunifying following a military deployment. The
structural/strategic family therapy model will be briefly reviewed as
informing the model for family assessment and treatment. Ideas for
interventions that support family health and change are reviewed.
Clinical examples are provided throughout the presentation.
Goal: This course provides a review of concerns a
family can face when a family member has military related PTSD and/or
the family is struggling with reunification following a family member's
deployment.
Objectives: After viewing the presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Know ways a family member's problems related to
PTSD can impact on the family
- Know how to help a family identify goals and
how to support steps to meet those goals in ways that diminish the
impact of the PTSD
- Be familiar with some of the concerns that can
face families reuniting following a family member's military deployment
- Know how to provide support for families
transitioning through the reunification process
